July 31, 2009 by New in Chess (ADVERTORIALS) · Leave a Comment

Pirc AlertWe have just received from Chess Information and Research Centre (CIRC) the revised and updated 2nd edition of Pirc Alert!

In this 448 pages book (the first edition dates back from 2001) GMs Lev Alburt and Alex Chernin explain the winning ideas as well as the theory and moves of the dynamic Pirc and Modern Defenses.

The Pirc is an opening you can rely on for the rest of your chess career, it’s unquestionably sound, flexible enough to offer alternative approaches and it always comes up with more than its share of surprises.

Pirc Alert! is written in an educational style which makes it easy to read and remember. The most important ideas and positions are set off in color and nearly 1000 diagrams often allow you to study without a board.

Very interesting features are “the lesson previews” that prepare you to a better understanding of the context and the use of unique “Memory Markers” which helps you to retain the key ideas of that chapter

This book will hand you a tool to win from the wrong side of the board!
