Good to see that at least Gusti was victorious on that sad day for Germany… :-)

  2. Mattovsky on June 30th, 2008 15.07

Big deal. His opponent was also German.

These guys are playing just 7 rounds
There is no Sophia-rule to avoid short draws
Then why do they need 2 rest days and the first rest day coming after just 2 rounds??

  4. jussu on June 30th, 2008 20.29

I don’t think the number of chessplayers’ rest days should concern us spectators. They will eventually play all seven rounds, that’s for sure.

Congratulations, very good comments, especially the ones from gustafsson-naiditsch

  6. arne on June 30th, 2008 22.21

Thanks for pointing out the obvious, Mattovsky. Ever heard of the word ‘irony’?

  7. Silken on July 1st, 2008 15.07

The two rest days enable the GM tournament to run with some synchronicity (is this as word ?!) with the Amateur Open, which uses 9 rounds.

  8. Mattovsky on July 1st, 2008 22.32

@ Arne: We don’t seem to have the same opinion about the appropriate use of irony. But never mind.

Three decisive games! Drawmund is no more…
