De ontwikkelingen omtrent ‘Toiletgate’ (de naam is van ChessBase) volgen elkaar in razend tempo op. We proberen jullie zo goed mogelijk op de hoogte te houden, maar het is bijna niet bij te houden.
The developments around ‘Toiletgate’ (ChessBase) are going faster and faster. We will try to keep you updated as fast as we can, but we cannot promise anything.
Na de officiele reactie van de FIDE op de beschuldigingen van het kamp-Topalov, is er alweer een reactie van Kramnik en ook een reactie van Topalov. Bovendien staat de vijfde matchpartij op het punt van beginnen. Topalov heeft al aangegeven Kramniks hand niet te zullen schudden als zijn eisen niet worden ingewilligd.

update 14:13 Erg verwarrend (maar wel interessant) in de hele discussie is het gebruik van Engelse eufemismen voor het woord ‘toilet’. De termen bathroom, restroom en toilet worden door elkaar gebruikt. In het originele Russische persbericht van Topalov is sprake van ‘komnata’ - kamer. Op ICC word erop gewezen dat “50 keer naar de toilet gaan” niet hetzelfde is als “50 keer naar de badkamer gaan”.

update 13:44 Volgens administrators op ICC geeft Kramnik om 1400 uur een persconferentie - dus nadat hij de partij op tijd verloren heeft.
update 13:29 Volgens ChessBase is de match 15 minuten uitgesteld.
After the official reaction of FIDE to the accusations of the camp-Topalov, we already have a reaction of Kramnik and also a reaction of Topalov.On top of that, match game number 5 can start any minute. Topalov already indicated that he won’t shake hands with Kramnik if his demands will not be met.

update 14:13 Rather confusing (but also rather interesting) in the whole discussion is the use of English euphemisms for the word ‘toilet’. The words bathroom, restroom and toilet are all used. In the original press release by Topalov, the word ’komnata’ (room) is used. On ICC people stress the fact that “going to the toilet 50 times” may not be the same thing as “going to the bathroom 50 times”.

Deze commotie is duidelijk een idee van Silvio Danailov. Ik denk alleen dat Topalov hier mentaal meer last van gaat krijgen dan Kramnik.
Wat ik namelijk niet begrijp is: hoe moet Kramnik dan vals spelen, heeft hij een telefoon bij zich ofzo? Lijkt me toch dat dat niet mag… Vanaf nu gewoon fouileren voor de wedstrijd en geen contact meer toestaan, dan zie ik niet wat er nog mis kan gaan.
Volgens mij werden de spelers al gefouilleerd, Zultan. Het rare is ook: als er IEMAND anti-computerschaak gespeeld heeft is het Kramnik wel. Ik ben wel benieuwd waar Topalov (of die gekke Danailov) Kramnik nu eigenlijk precies van beschuldigt. Random wat verdachtmakingen rondstrooien kan iedereen, maar hoe is het dan concreet gegaan? Daar hoor je Danailov niet over.
Tja, want wat nodig is, is communicatie met buiten, want het lijkt me niet dat er een pocket Fritz achtig apparaat bestaat waar je tegen Topalov iets aan hebt. Sms of text telefonie dus, want praten door een telefoon brengt veel risico met zich mee. Blijft de vraag hoe Kramnik na fouilleren aan een telefoon zou moeten komen. Kunnen ze tijdens de partij contact hebben met andere mensen?
Danailov schrijft (al op 24 sept!) aan de FIDE, zoals te lezen valt op o.a. Chessbase:
“We are not satisfied with the checks carried out on the players’ rest rooms. Members of our team were not invited to attend these checks. We are surprised by the fact that the window of Topalov’s rest room was open during play.
Outside people have been in and out of the players’ rest rooms during the match.
No appropriate security checks have been carried out on spectators, to ensure they are not carrying electronic devices, such as mobile phones and/or cameras with flash.”
Het is allemaal psychologische oorlogsvoering natuurlijk. Alle tot nu toe aangegeven argumenten kunnen namelijk niet verklaren:
- dat Topalov in de eerste partij blunderde
- dat Kramnik in de tweede totaal verloren kwam te staan
- dat Topalov daar de winst niet zag.
Eigenlijk is het vooral zielig. Zoals Susan Polgar schrijft: “They are each paid $500,000 tax free to play this match for the chess highest honor. They should both behave honorably!”
Ik denk niet dat er nog gespeeld gaat worden vandaag.
Deze situatie kan Kramnik te baat nemen om analoog aan Fischer gewoon een 0 te incasseren om dan morgen vrolijk verder te schaken.
Topalov maar wachten vandaag , al nerveuser wordende en dan morgen zal kramnik doodleuk verklaren onder protest de match te hervatten.

Toppie is dan mentaal dood en begraven en als\ kramnik evt toch verliest dan ligt de excuus reden al klaar!
Nou Kramnik snapt in ieder geval hoe hij de spanning kan terugbrengen in de match!
Die Danailov is natuurlijk een grote boef. Als hij niet oppast kan hij weer straten gaan vegen in Sofia.
Na eindelijk te zijn uitgelachen over deze fantastische affaire denk ik dat Topalov volstrekt gelijk heeft, want Kramnik zal als een echte piskijker wel telkens in de pot kunnen zien welke zet hij moet spelen.
