Dimitri Reinderman - Zhaoqin Peng [A27]

Hoogeveen 2007/Hoogeveen (6) 2007

1. c4 e5 2. Nc3 Nc6 3. Nf3 Bb4 4. Nd5 e4 5. Ng5!? To me this move was new but Reinderman thought he had seen it before. 5... Qxg5 6. Nxc7+ Kd8 7. Nxa8 e3! A nice response. 8. fxe3 Qh4+ 8... Nf6 was suggested by Luc Winants after the game. Reinderman had planned 9. Qa4 but then 9... Ne4 10. a3 Bd6 looks very good for Black, e.g. 11. Qb5 Qh4+ 12. g3 Nxg3 13. hxg3 Qxh1 14. Qg5+ Ne7 15. Qxg7 Rg8 16. Qxf7 Bxg3+ 17. Kd1 d5 9. g3 Qe4 10. Rg1 Qxe3 11. Rg2 Nf6! The immediate 11... Nd4 12. Qa4 Bxd2+ 13. Kd1 Bxc1 14. Rxc1 only helps White. 12. Qa4 Now 12. a3? is bad because of 12... Nd4 12... Qe5 13. a3 Be7 14. e3 Also possible was 14. d3 Qb8 15. b4 Qxa8 16. Be3 (16. b5 Nd4) 14... d5?! After the game Peng was sure that 14... Qb8 was better. Reinderman wanted to do 15. b4 Qxa8 16. c5 d6 17. d4 15. cxd5 Qxd5 16. b4 16. Rf2 is also interesting. 16... Ne4 17. Bb2 Reinderman: "A spectacular line was 17. b5 Ne5 18. Qxa7? Nf3+ 19. Ke2 Qc4+ 20. d3 Qc2+ 21. Kxf3 Ng5+ 22. Kf4 Bd6+ 23. Kxg5 h6+ 24. Kh4 Be7+ 25. Kh5 g6# 17... Bh3 18. O-O-O!? I really liked this move but while we were looking at the computer's suggestions, Reinderman asked me: "What happens if Black takes on g2?" :-) 18... Bf6 18... Bxg2 19. Bxg2 Qc4+ 20. Qc2 Qxc2+ 21. Kxc2 Nd6 is difficult to assess. 19. d3 Bxb2+ 20. Kxb2 Nd6 21. Rc2

21... Bxf1? This is bad. Peng was angry at herself that she hadn't played 21... Be6 22. Bg2 Qa2+ 23. Kc1 Bb3 24. Rxa2 Bxa4 25. Rf1 Kc8 22. Rxf1 Qxd3 22... Qe5+ 23. Kb1 Qxe3 24. Rd1 23. Rxc6! bxc6 24. Rd1 Qe2+ 25. Kb1 Qxe3 26. Qa5+ Ke8 27. Rxd6 Qb3+ 28. Kc1 Qc3+ 29. Kd1 Qb3+ 30. Ke2 Qc2+ 31. Kf3 1-0
