Carlsen beats Leko 5-3

1 June 2008 21:16 PM | Last modified: 21:20

Just like in the first half, in the second four games Carlsen won one and drew three with Leko, The Norwegian won the match in Hungary 5-3.

Against Adams he drew his match, against Karpov he won and against Kramnik he lost. This year Magnus Carlsen also proved too strong for Peter Leko in the annual eight-game rapid match in Miskolc, Hungary.

After four games it was 1½-2½ for Carlsen and eventually the Norwegian won the match without losing a game. For Leko this match must leave him a feeling of major disappointment as he threw away many winning positions.

Considering Carlsen’s results so far this year, I believe he could be on his way to win this years chess oscar. Magnus being 17, does anyone know the age of the youngest recipient of this award to date?

Probably Kasparov, although this needs verification, of course. Go to ChessBase.com to find out - there was a recent report listing all the recipients.

Kasparov got it first time in 1982 when he was 19.

Congratulation to the magnificent player, although i would have been happier to see invert results.
