Extremely nice :)
One little suggestion, you should have a music under the wijk aan zee intro, otherwise it feels a bit strange :)

The tools to cover such a tournament already exists..
Just check chesscast.tv
Earlier this year there already was a live coverage of a chesstournament.
It was of the NH chess in the Krasnapolsky..
It had the video aswell as the PGN viewer in one page..
And everything live..
If corus would do that for this tournament with all these great players..

Hey guys , this really rulezzzzz...
I love to watch the players doing their job. 5 years ago, CORUS experimented some webcams, the problem was that that was not "live" cause the cams just took PICS of the games and sent them every 1 minute. Now technology is great and the CORUS torunament seems to invest a lot in chess, so, why not the webcams?
CHESSVIBES, I've found your site and I will be here forever. Amazing job. There are people who thinks chess fans don't want to see images of the players, only the java boards.. U are the GUYS.
Bye.

Excellent idea! :-) With your permission, we'd like to use your quote on the top of our page - this way we might be able to continue our coverage at other tournaments...

Chessvibes, please quit your day jobs and please follow all the major chess tournaments with you cameras. (Unless that *is* your day job).
Thank you so much for the coverage! Is it illegal to video the players DURING their games, not just the first 10 minutes? A webcam would be cool. It's 2008 and chess is still in the stone age. We're watching games on clunky java apps instead of watching live video over the internet. My boss has a webcam of his computer room and I can watch his cat walking around. Why not stream the tournament hall live as well?
Thanks again. I am not complaining, just wondering!!!!!!!
Cheers,
Pal

"The viewer first" sounds true like "The customer is king", but on the other hand in the current situation you get the interesting feeling that you are sneaking over the superstar's shoulder.

I am running a book on the first player to show their game without dropping a piece on thee floor - if anyone fancies a bet...my money is on Anand
Also some difficulties with the sound quality, otherwise a real treat to see the top players in action!

Gentlemen, I do love the site. Always interesting and up to date, but I do have a small complaint. Can someone tell the cameraman that the board is suposed to be facing the spectators, not the player? They can move the pieces at the side of the board, not in front of it. In terms of comunication and mass media techniques this is a huge mistake. The viewer first. Not all of us has seen the game before or have the nedeed expertise to follow a game at a board with an angle of 45?Ǭ?.

Yes, the camera work is dreadful! The players do a great job considering how drained they must be.

Judit belongs to this special category of players who remind us the romantic era of chess.she's'humble and this is the politeness of the great.i strongly believe she's'undervalued and hope this tournament will be the opportunity for her to show the world who is who.

Fantastic analysis. Very economic, always relevant, never boring. It's amazing how much the players had seen during the game in this tactical chaos. It makes one very, very humble indeed.

To be honest I didn't find the analysis as interesting and instructive as, lets say, the ones by Kramnik.
Gelfand just blundered in a good position. A move like Rad1 instead of the wild g4 would have been quite solid. But I guess Polgar created her own luck by playing very actively. She herself admits that although she is happy with the amount of points, she has mixed feelings about the quality of her play.
And yes, the sound was bad, pump up the volume! :-)
