Corus Press Conference Round 7
On this Sunday morning we have another press conference for you and this time it's Sergey Movsesian showing his victory over Vassily Ivanchuk, who used a lot of time in the opening phase of yesterday's game and didn't survive the growing pressure built up by the Slovak player. In the end, I asked Movsesian about the plusses and minuses of his narrow opening repertoire.

Outstanding game and conference! One of the best, if not the best, until now on Corus 2009. It was interesting to see how black's strategy had made its way putting white pieces on a defensive nightmare! For me, it was the confirmation of that lesson: You cannot attack the flank if the opponent's center is mobile!

Great to see him finally get into the top tournaments where he belongs, proving fools like Greengard wrong.
Go Sergey!

Well,Mig Greengard maybe not the one to say things like that 'cause he's not exactly an expert on chess top level,he's a journalist. But,he's not a fool, after all he's done great things on his job.Next time let the Grandmasters tell who's gone succeed in chess not a journalist.

I think that "unsual" guys aren't chessplayers. In chess there's no place for them.Of course there sometimes in amator tourneys some "strange people" but they aren't "unsual".This kind of people apears in others tourneys like tourneys of counter strike =P.Finally,i would like to say that chessplayers have the balance that "unsual" guys don't´so i don't think chess is a game for "unsual" guys or girls.

@Eiae: You are obviously referring to Mig Greengard's Dailydirt site, but which specific post do you mean? The "Movsesian case" happens to be the current topic there, with Mig quoting himself (from his preview of the Nanjing tournament):
"It will be interesting to see if Movsesian has just been on a hot streak lately or has really raised his game. "
IMHO, this is a neutral statement, leaving both answers as possible and plausible ones. Pearl Spring suggested the former, Corus suggests the latter.

Eiae is right, Mig Greengard is really offensive. Svidler described his "journalistic" style neatly - "cheap shots". Well said.

I meant in general. Look up more of his articles through the years and you'll know what I mean.
