Danailov: 'Rematch starts March 3rd, 2007'

[lang_nl]Natuurlijk werd bij aankost in Sofia, Bulgarije, aan verliezend WK-kandidaat Topalov gevraagd naar een eventuele rematch tegen Kramnik. Zijn manager Danailov was weer lekker resoluut in zijn reactie: "De FIDE-reglementen staat toe dat elke wereldkampioen die zijn titel verloren heeft de titelhouder mag uitdagen. Het totale prijzenfonds is 1,5 miljoen dollar. We zullen dit geld bijeenbrengen en voorstellen de match in Sofia te houden. We zullen ook een exacte datum noemen: 3 maart 2007."[/lang_nl][lang_en]Of course Wch title loser Topalov, on his arrival at Sofia, Bulgaria, was asked about a possible rematch against Kramnik. His manager Danailov reacted as determined as ever: "FIDE regulations allow every world champion that has lost the title to challenge the title holder. The total prize fund is 1,5 million dolars. We will find this money and will request the game to take place in Sofia. We will offer an exact date, 3rd of March 2007."[/lang_en]

15.10.Goed dag, Yours is a great website for chess - my favorite at the moment. Still, because of the Elista brouhaha You missed out completely on the murderous fight at the European Club Championship - with the title decided in the very last game INARKIEW - KHALIFMAN for Tomsk. That is chess at its best - see also the game Ivanchuk-Ruck - and not the somewhat anodyne draws with a toilet background in the KALMYK STEPPES....

Zelf ben ik niet helemaal op de hoogte van die FIDE-reglementen. Maar 'het recht op uitdagen' lijkt inderdaad niet te betekenen dat er sprake zou zijn van verplichtingen bij Kramnik.

Wat betekenen trouwens de geruchten over een match Fischer-Karpov? Als die in Bobby's nadeel zou uitvallen zou er nog een 'wereldkampioen' verdwijnen en Kramnik helemaal de enige echte zijn!

Dat heb je verkeerd gezien Philippe, er verdwijnt pas echt een wereldkampioen uit de reeks als Fischer-Karpov in Anatoly's nadeel uitvalt!

Wat ik bedoel, beste Bert, is dat Fischer zichzelf wellicht nog steeds als de enige echte wereldkampioen beschouwt, aangezien niemand hem sinds zijn zege heeft verslagen (zoals hij de 'recente' match met Spassky bekeek vanuit het recht op revanche). Wil de echte wereldkampioen nu opstaan?
