It’s been that way for many years. The prize money isn’t enough to draw them. The one year when they were sponsored by Smith & williamson Short, Adams and all the top players competed for the cash.
Many of our top players (Hodgson, Nunn, Sadler et al) are retired also.

Well done David! No doubt the first of many. Now a tougher test at Simpsons, followed by a terryfying prospect in January against Magnus, Vladimir & Hikaru!!
