Karpov, Topalov and other stars to play in Kiev

Chess-news reports that 3-8 June there will be a strong rapid tournament in Kiev, Ukraine: the international festival "Sberbank Open". The main event is a 10-player rapid event with Anatoly Karpov, Sergey Karjakin, Evgeny Tomashevsky, Veselin Topalov, Peter Leko, Arkady Naiditsch, Sergei Zhigalko, Pavel Eljanov, Anton Korobov and Alexander Areshchenko. The venue is the National Sports Complex "Olympic".

Poor Karpov, I am afraid that he has been thrown in a pit with lions instead. His opponents are very strong and have had far more practice recently.

i hope Karpov will be quick enough at his age!...last time Kasparov crushed Karpov in a rapid match based on time pressure...

If the German, Spanish, U.S. and Norwegian federations formed a rival world body, I wonder who would join them? Russia and India would probably stay with FIDE - they seem to have an understanding.
