[lang_nl]Lang op gehoopt, eindelijk gelukt. De 'eeuwige tweede' van de Nederlandse clubcompetitie is erin geslaagd de nationale titel binnen te slepen nu er voor het eerst in tientallen jaren geen serieuze concurrent was.

Jarenlang zat De Variant uit Breda de HSG'ers dwars en in recentere jaren waren het sponsornamen als Ordina, ZZICT en de allermalste, U-Boat Worx, die bovenaan de nationale eindranglijst prijkten. Vorig jaar was het Share Dimension uit Groningen dat geld genoeg had om spelers als Kramnik en Ivanchuk op te stellen en uiteindelijk op ?ɬ©?ɬ©n matchpunt de Hilversummers voor te blijven.

Nu eindelijk dus het Hilversums Schaak Genootschap (HSG), de club die opgericht werd op 28 september 1887 en daarmee een van de oudste schaakverenigingen van Nederland is.

Begin jaren tachtig van de vorige eeuw werd HSG in rap tempo een Nederlandse topclub dankzij Joop van Oosterom, destijds speler in het eerste. De gulle gever begon al lang voor het jaarlijkse Amber-toernooi bestond, zijn club HSG te sponsoren.

Steeds sterkere spelers begonnen voor HSG te spelen, onder wie de drie Polgar-zusjes, Ljubomir Ljubojevic, Lev Polugaevsky, Ian Rogers, Yasser Seirawan en Predrag Nikolic. De laatste twee komen nog altijd regelmatig uit voor HSG; Ljubo heeft dit jaar niet meegespeeld maar beloofde in Nice wel over te komen voor het kampioensfeest.

De kopman van ZZICT, Loek van Wely, stapte vanaf seizoen 2004-2005 naar HSG over en dat stimuleerde ongetwijfeld de nieuwe generatie bestaande uit Spoelman, Smeets, l'Ami en Stellwagen.

Teamleider Jan Stomphorst is altijd zijn strategie trouw gebleven om zo veel mogelijk Nederlanders of in Nederland woonachtige schakers op te stellen, in plaats van het laten overvliegen van sterke topspelers. Dit heeft zo zijn charme, en een enorm vriendenteam tot gevolg, maar mede daardoor kon de champagne nooit eerder ontkurkt worden.

Dit jaar was HSG duidelijk het sterkste team van Nederland. Alle wedstrijden werden gewonnen en tot nu toe zijn er 59?Ǭ? bordpunten gescoord, een gemiddelde van 7,4.

Dankzij een overtuigende overwinning op Homburg Apeldoorn (en landskampioen Groningen dat tegen LSG niet verder kwam dan 5-5) staat HSG nu vier matchpunten voor op Schrijvers Rotterdam en Hotels.nl.

Hieronder enkele overtuigende partijen van HSG uit dit seizoen:[/lang_nl][lang_en]Finally they made it. 'Always second' in the Dutch club championship, HSG has managed to clinch the national title after there wasn't a serieus compeititor for the first time in years.

For years it was De Variant from Breda preventing success for HSG and in more recent years, the final standings had sponsor names such as Ordina, ZZICT and even U-Boat Worx topping the list. Last year, Share Dimension from Groningen had enough pocket money to be able to include Kramnik and Ivanchuk in their team, and they won the championship one point ahead of HSG.

Hilversums Schaak Genootschap (Hilversum Chess Society), founded September 28th, 1887 is one of the oldest clubs in The Netherlands. In the eighties of the last century, HSG became a very strong club pretty fast because of Joop van Oosterom, who then played in the first team. The generous millionaire started to sponsor his club long before the Amber tournament existed.

HSG's team was enrichted by strong players, e.g. the three Polgar sisters, Ljubomir Ljubojevic, Lev Polugaevsky, Ian Rogers, Yasser Seirawan and Predrag Nikolic. The latter two still play for HSG regularly, and although Ljubo hasn't played yet this year, he promised his team mates in Nice to join the championship party.

Loek van Wely had always been ZZICT's top player but started to play for HSG at the start of the season 2004-2005. This must have stimulated the new generation, consisting of Spoelman, Smeets, l'Ami and Stellwagen, enormously.

Team captain Jan Stomphorst always kept faith to his strategy to include mostly Dutch players or players living in The Netherlands in his team, instead of flying in strong players. This has its charm, and has resulted in a team of friends, but partly because of that, there was never a big party at the end of the season.

This year HSG was clearly the strongest Dutch team. All matches were won so far and 59?Ǭ? board points have been collected; an average of 7,4.

After the big victory against Homburg Apeldoorn (and title holder Groningen drawing their match against LSG 5-5) HSG is now leading with a four-points gap with Schrijvers Rotterdam and Hotels.nl.
