Indeed a strong endgame by Leko. Actually, the analysis makes it look like Black had an easy win after 38.Kxd2, but during the game I thought White was doing fine until a few moves before the end. The knight looks so strong and the a-pawn so weak... impressive stuff by Leko.

Peter: What a superb video ... and it contained the titbits of insights into players' behaviour that we crave! Your interview of Mamedyarov was brilliant. Despite your own personal opinion about players being awarded three points for a win (c.f. your July 03 article 'Football score system is nonsense'), you were very objective in the phrasing of the question to Mamedyarov. Earlier when you asked him if 'lack of energy' explained his draws, I got the impression that he himself is unclear why he gave draws in positions in which he apparently had an advantage. I notice that his English is improving, and of course yours is not only perfect but very pleasantly accented. Mamedyarov does seem like a very likeable and modest individual so thanks for doing this interview as it means a lot to his fans.
