Prada's chess-inspired autumn/winter 2012 women's ad campaign

Prada's chess-inspired autumn/winter 2012 women's ad campaign

While Andrew Paulson is working hard on creating a new image for the game of chess, at the moment it seems to be the sport of choice for at least one luxury brand: Prada. The Italian fashion label set its autumn/winter 2012 women's campaign on futuristic vision of fantasy and desire. It is full of geometric shapes and patterns, and is clearly chess-inspired. Shot by Steven Meisel, the abstract video features models Elza Luijendijk, Vanessa Axente, Iselin Steiro, and Madison Headrick. It is placed in Miuccia Prada's Fall 2012 show's 'virtual princess' theme.

Well, that was ... one of the dumbest ads I have seen in a long time.

Judging by the YouTube comments this thing is so brilliant that it defies explanation! I wish I could play chess like that.

Ugh! No thanks, I'd rather the image of chess stays like it is than be associated with unhealthily thin women with gigantic foreheads wearing ugly and ridiculously impractical clothing and deadbeat avant-garde poser directors without a speck of talent.
