Round 11 Corus Press Conference
It took him longer than expected, but world number 1 Magnus Carlsen finally reached the top of the standings in Wijk aan Zee, with two rounds to go. His opponent Leinier Dominguez didn't play that badly, but blundered in timetrouble, as Carlsen explains. Enjoy!

Interesting to see some of these games where modern masters seem to play for a middle game solution, maybe an influence of complicated variations of computer analysis & study. If one look for example at Capablanca, Karpov, Botvinik, Rubinstein games, one can see the entire opening & game strategy directed toward the endgame superiority...It seems players now use the computers in order to find ways to gamble their opponents, but they cannot use theses strategies to fight against computers...This eventually makes chess less original, creative and profound...Compare the classical positional game comments of Kramnik with the ones from Carlsen for example...

Great! Thanks a lot for this video. Carlsen was looking very tired in this press conference. And he doesn't try to explain a lot of variations like other players, but anyway this conference is really enjoyable. The guy is a truly genious.
