The Full English Breakfast #25: Olympiadding it Up

The Full English Breakfast

The Stevie G. behind the scenes report, with Grischuk, Leko and Memedyarov. And: Lost on the cutting room floor, we wrap up the summer supertournament news. Or, in other words: The Full English Breakfast #24b and #25 are out!

About the Full English Breakfast

Mission: Bring the serious chess news analysis. VERY serious, and not at all witty. Definitely not tongue in cheek. ;) Origins: The Full English Breakfast started life as a late night brainstorm at the 2009 GibTel (now Tradewise) Chess Festival in Gibraltar. Trent and Macauley struck up a conversation about things missing in the chess media, and hit upon the idea of doing a podcast combining the serious with the slightly sophomoric. Trent quickly brought in his pal Stevie G. dramatically raising both the intellectual and the dialectical heft of the new ensemble. And the rest, as they say, is hysterical.

Despite what FEB suggests at 12:50 into the tape, GM Mamedyarov had in fact the best rating performance in the 2012 Chess Olympiad in Istanbul (as pointed out by Shak himself near the end of the same show!) His rating performance was 2880 (8.5/10). In fairness though, GM Navara played brilliantly too (RP 2869, 9.5/11).
Congratulations to GM Gordon of the FEB on a great performance in the 2012 British Championship, being pipped only on playoff by GM Jones, despite having a win.
And well done to McCauley for fine videos and interviews at the London Grand Prix (both he and Peter Doggers of have exceptionally clear and placid voices).
