Anish Giri has taken an early lead in his multi-format match against Vassily Ivanchuk in León, Spain. The first game ended in a draw, while the second was won by the Dutch grandmaster after his opponent blundered a full piece. At the Sberbank rapid tournament in Kiev, Veselin Topalov started with 3/3 and still leads after the second day of play. The Bulgarian grandmaster is the only player on 4.5/6, and is followed by Peter Leko, Sergey Zhigalko and Sergey Karjakin.
