Gelfand wins 3rd ACP World Rapid Cup

Boris Gelfand won the 3rd ACP World Rapid Cup today by beating Peter Svidler 3-1 in the final. The first two rapid games had ended in a draw and despite reaching very good positions twice, Svidler lost both games 3 and 4. Scoring 9.5 out of 13 rapid games, Gelfand earned US $ 10,000 in one weekend of chess in Odessa. Read more

ACP: “Players’ rights have been neglected”

In a new press release the Association of Chess Professionals calls for an “even higher standard of management” and recommends tournament organizers to “act carefully when announcing events which are not completely guaranteed yet.” They argue that by kicking Al Modiahki and Pelletier out of the Grand Prix, “players’ rights have been neglected”.

ACP joins the debate

In a press release today the Association of Chess Professionals (ACP) joins the debate surrounding the World Chess Championship cycle. Pinpointing the weak (and strong) aspects of the recent changes, they recommend FIDE “to build a sustainable dialog with chess players, where the ACP could play a role of mediator.” Read more

In zijn eerste brief zegt hij dat ‘de anarchie in de schaaksport wordt gebracht’ door Kramnik sowieso een match te gunnen, onafhankelijk van zijn resultaat in Mexico in september.
