Bundesliga: Baden-Baden still on 100% but Bremen leads

OSC Baden-Baden is the only team left in the Schachbundesliga that won all of its matches. Still it’s Werder Bremen that leads the current standings, since this weekend not only the 3rd and 4th round of the German league were played, but also one match of the 7th round. We have all results and a selection of games, including the shocking loss of Alexei Shirov in only 16 moves against Michael Bezold. Read more

Linex-Magic wins third Spanish title

Last year CajaCanarias (Tenerife) won the Spanish Championship after a nail-biting finish, but this weekend Linex-Magic won back the national title. It was the third cup for the team from Mérida, and match winner was Fabiano Caruana, who scored the only victory in the final. Read more

Gaia wins Portugese team championships by wide margin

The Portuguese team championships ended on Sunday in a clear and convincing victory for the defending champions and the hosting team from Gaia – with grandmasters Tivakov, Korneev, Hoffman, Ftacnik, rising Spanish star Ivan Lopez Salgado and the Portuguese IM Antonio Frois. Gaia won with a 100% team score – all encounters won – and an overwhelming board score. Read more

HSG retains Dutch team championship title
