Kamsky-Topalov related Press ConferencesToday the teams of Topalov and Kamsky have signed the contracts for their match, and so Sofia as the venue, and 16th to 28th February, 2009 as the dates, are now official. Kamsky-Topalov3nd update, November 20: Silvio Danailov confirmed that today both parties have signed the contracts.

Today all parties involved reached an agreement on the Kamsky-Topalov match. The match that should provide a challenger to world champion Anand is now scheduled to take place in February 2009 in Sofia. Read more

Kamsky asks USCF board to unite

USCF / KamskyIn an attempt to support Gata Kamsky in the FIDE/Topalov match saga, the board of the United States Chess Federation once again revealed its internal disunity. We received several “open emails” by different board members quibbling. The sanest person seems to be Kamsky himself, who requested “all USCF Board members to unite and find ways to make sure that justice and fairness will prevail.”

Update: No Chernenko money, Iluymzhinov gives Bulgarian Chess Federation another chance.

By now nobody believes the Kamsky-Topalov match will still take place before the end of the year, if at all, but after receiving another letter by Kamsky’s manager Chernenko, FIDE President Ilyumzhinov decided to reconsider his personal guarantee and set Mr Chernenko another ultimatum: one more day.
