China defeated USA with an even bigger score in the rapid section of their friendly match: 70.5-29.5. This resulted in a final score of 101.5-48.5 in favour of the host country. The two countries played five classical games and ten rapid games.

China has taken a commanding lead in their friendly match with the USA, which takes place in Ningbo, China. After five classical games, the score is 31-19 for the home team. The Scheveningen match is now half way; the second part will consist of ten rapid games.

Hikaru Nakamura won the U.S. Championship on Saturday after beating Yasser Seirawan with white in the last round. The top rated American grandmaster finished a full point ahead of Gata Kamsky and with a point less, third came Alexander Onischuk. A report on the final two rounds.

Thanks to three consecutive wins in rounds 7, 8 and 9 Gata Kamsky is in sole lead at the U.S. Championships in Saint Louis, USA. The American grandmaster caught Hikaru Nakamura in round 7 and surpassed him in round 9, by beating Yasser Seirawan, while Nakamura had to concede a draw against Aleksandr Lenderman. Hikaru Nakamura is in sole lead at the U.S. Championships in Saint Louis, USA after six rounds. The highest rated American grandmaster, currently #7 in the world, won three games and drew three. Reigning champion Gata Kamsky is half a point behind, followed by Alexander Onischuk, Aleksandr Lenderman and Yuri Shulman who are on "+1".

Baskharan Adhiban won the 16th Cultural Village GM tournament in Wijk aan Zee, The Netherlands. The Indian grandmaster finished on 6.5/9, one point ahead of Benjamin Bok (The Netherlands), Daniel Naroditsky and Aleksandr Lenderman (both USA).
With his victory Adhiban qualified for Grandmaster Group C of the upcoming Tata Steel Chess Tournament....
