The Chinese grandmaster defeated Victor Bologan to score 3 more points, while runner-up Anish Giri only collected 1 point after drawing with Magnus Carlsen. Wang Hao is the new leader at the GM tournament of the Biel Chess Festival. On Thursday the Chinese grandmaster defeated Dutchman Anish Giri to reach 9 points out of 4 games. Hikaru Nakamura won his first game, against Victor Bologan, while Etienne Bacrot and Magnus Carlsen drew their game.

Anish Giri and Wang Hao started with a win in the first round in Biel, Switzerland. The fresh Dutch Champion won against Alexander Morozevich, who took many risks trying to win. Wang Hao defeated Etienne Bacrot in a very nice King's Indian, Bayonet Attack. The game between Magnus Carlsen and Hikaru Nakamura ended in a draw.

Vassily Ivanchuk won the ACP Golden Classic convincingly, finishing on +4 in the 7-round tournament. Anish Giri was in a class of his own at the Dutch Championship, scoring 6/7. After a bit of a "slow start", no less than four games have suddenly been adjourned at the Golden Classic in Amsterdam. At the Dutch Championship, Anish Giri is in firm lead with 4.5/5 while at the SPA Open there's a three way tie between GM Tejas Bakre, IM Manuel Bosboom and FM Floris van Assendelft.

In Amsterdam thee tournaments have begun: the ACP Golden Classic, the Dutch Championships and the SPA Open. So far the online spectators and Dutch chess fans present haven't been disappointed as in lots of nice games have been played in the Dutch capital already.
