Magnus Carlsen defeated Hikaru Nakamura on Monday to grab sole lead at the London Chess Classic. Luke McShane, who won with Black against Mickey Adams, is now in second place. Magnus Carlsen took an early lead at the London Chess Classic on Saturday. In the only decisive game of the round, the Norwegian beat David Howell with White.

Magnus Carlsen caught Levon Aronian in the Tal Memorial final standings on Friday in Moscow, Russia. The Norwegian defeated Hikaru Nakamura and finished shared first with the Armenian, who drew with Ian Nepomniachtchi. Magnus Carlsen won against Boris Gelfand in the second round of the Tal Memorial in Moscow, Russia. The Norwegian joined Vassily Ivanchuk and Ian Nepomniachtchi in the lead as the other games all ended in draws.
