Zoltan Almasi won the Capablanca Memorial Elite group on Wednesday with a score of 6.5/10. The 37 year old Hungarian grandmaster finished half a point ahead of Cubans Leinier Dominguez and Yuniesky Quesada, who had a very successful tournament.

Ernesto Inarkiev won the first stage of the Russian Rapid Grand Prix on Sunday in Volgograd. The 27-year-old grandmaster finished on 10/11, half a point more than GMs Pavel Smirnov, Dmitry Bocharov and Dmitry Andreikin.
