Wang Hao increased his lead to 4 points at the Biel Chess Festival on Friday. The Chinese grandmaster defeated Victor Bologan to score 3 more points, while runner-up Anish Giri only collected 1 point after drawing with Magnus Carlsen. Hikaru Nakamura beat Etienne Bacrot and is now in shared second place with the Dutch GM.

Wang Hao is the new leader at the GM tournament of the Biel Chess Festival. On Thursday the Chinese grandmaster defeated Dutchman Anish Giri to reach 9 points out of 4 games. Hikaru Nakamura won his first game, against Victor Bologan, while Etienne Bacrot and Magnus Carlsen drew their game.

Anish Giri and Wang Hao started with a win in the first round in Biel, Switzerland. The fresh Dutch Champion won against Alexander Morozevich, who took many risks trying to win. Wang Hao defeated Etienne Bacrot in a very nice King's Indian, Bayonet Attack. The game between Magnus Carlsen and Hikaru Nakamura ended in a draw.

Today the Biel Chess Festival starts with an exhibition blitz tournament, to celebrate the 45 years of the festival. It's a knockout with Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamaura, Alexander Morozevich, Wang Hao, Etienne Bacrot, Pentala Harikrishna, Yannick Pelletier and Alexandra Kosteniuk. The European Championship started on Tuesday in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
