On the first day of the Presidential Board meeting in Baku, Azerbaijan the World Chess Federation officially granted the World Championship match between Viswanathan Anand and Magnus Carlsen to Chennai, India. Between June 5 and 11, 2013 the World Rapid & Blitz Championships will take place in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia. The prize money for each World Championship is 200,000 US Dollars. For the first time in the history of the events, they are open to all players nominated by their Federations or else with ratings over 2500. More at FIDE.

Next Friday the first round of the FIDE Candidates tournament will be played, and the winner has the right to challenge World Champion Vishy Anand. The March 1st rating list has been published by FIDE and at the top there are not many big changes. Vishy Anand won 4 points thanks to his win in Baden-Baden, where Fabiano Caruana gained 3 points to climb back to the 11th place.
