Loek van Wely won the third 'Grand Prix FFE' in Aix-les-Bains on Sunday. In doing so the Dutchman, who defeated Laurent Fressinet in the final, also qualified for the annual rapid event in Bastia, Corsica later this year.

Zhao Xue won the 3rd Women's Grand Prix tournament in Nalchik, Russia with the super score of 9.5/11. The Chinese grandmaster had even started with 9.5/10 but lost in the last round. Nonetheless she finished 2.5 points ahead of the rest of the field.

It was practically impossible, but Humpy Koneru did it anyway. In the last two rounds the Indian caught Elina Danielian in the standings at the FIDE Grand Prix in Doha. In doing so, Koneru finished ahead of Nana Dzagnidze in the overall GP standings and qualified for a World Title match against Hou Yifan.
