Levon Aronian won the third and final chess event at the World Mind Games in Beijing: blindfold chess. The Armenian grandmaster scored 5.5/7 which was half a point more than Hikaru Nakamura. The bronze medal went to Shakhriyar Mamedyarov. Hou Yifan won the women's section ahead of Viktorija Cmilyte and Anna Zatonskih.

Khanty-Mansiysk - The Women's World Championship is taking place from 11th November to 3rd December. The strongest 64 female chess players are playing in a World Cup (knock-out) format to determine who will unseat Hou Yifan as World Champion. Magnus Carlsen tops the May 1st FIDE rating list with the same rating as two months ago: 2835. Howevever, his lead has decreased to 10 points as Levon Aronian of Armenia won 5 points to get to 2825.
There were few changes in the world's top 10 in the past two months. At the moment of writing, Aronian's live rating is in fact 2826 so just 9 points...
