Despite a loss in the final round to Ian Nepomniachtchi, Alexander Moiseenko won the European Championship in Legnica, Poland. The Ukrainian grandmaster was leading for most of the tournament and eventually scored 8/11, edging out nine other grandmasters on tiebreak. Also after seven rounds it is Alexander Moiseenko who tops the standings at the European Individual Championship in Legnica, Poland. The Ukrainian grandmaster collected 6 points. In the group with 5.5 points, just behind him, we find veteran GM Alexander Beliavsky as well as Francisco Vallejo Pons, who announced a break about half a year ago....

Alexander Moiseenko is the only player left with a perfect score at the European Individual Championship in Legnica, Poland. The Ukrainian grandmaster won his first four games and is half a point ahead of a group of twelve players who are on 3.5/4. After 11 rounds, the 23 best players will qualify for the World Cup in Tromsø, Norway this summer....
