Besides Magnus Carlsen, four more players have confirmed their participation in the new super tournament in Norway next year: Levon Aronian, Vladimir Kramnik, Vishy Anand and Wang Hao. This was reported by Norwegian media on Friday.

The fifth Grand Slam Masters Final started with a bang. In Sao Paulo, Brazil world's number one Magnus Carlsen immediately suffered a loss against Fabiano Caruana. Levon Aronian won against Sergey Karjakin while Vishy Anand and Paco Vallejo drew their first game.

Magnus Carlsen won yet another top tournament. On Monday he defeated Luke McShane with Black, and because Fabiano Caruana lost to Levon Aronian the Norwegian finished clear first at the Tal Memorial with 5.5/9. After the 5th round Alexander Morozevich has a full point lead over his closest rivalst at the Tal Memorial in Moscow. On Wednesday the Russian grandmaster defeated Levon Aronian with the Black pieces, while co-leader Teimour Radjabov lost with white against Magnus Carlsen.
