Dmitry Andreikin won the friendly match with Ian Nepomniachtchi with a score of 3.5-2.5. The last three games ended in a draw. On the final day, one rapid game was played because the main game ended in a draw in less than three hours. Nepomniachtchi won this game.

Alexei Shirov beat Viktor Laznicka in a 6-game friendly match played in Novy Bor, Czech Republic. After three draws the Latvian grandmaster won games 4 and 5, the latter due to a big blunder by Laznicka. The final game was also drawn.
