Mateusz Bartel won the Aeroflot Open in Moscow, Russia. The Polish grandmaster edged out Ukrainians Anton Korobov and Pavel Eljanov on tie-break (most games with Black) after all three had finished on 6.5/9. Bartel is also the editor-in-chief of the Polish Chess Magazine Mat.

Anton Korobov leads the Aeroflot Open after six rounds. The Ukrainian grandmaster won four games and drew two, and is half a point ahead of his compatriot Pavel Eljanov, Mateusz Bartel of Poland and Fabiano Caruana of Italy.

Igor Lysyj won the top group of the International RSSU Chess Cup on Sunday in Moscow, Russia. The festival, formerly known as the Moscow Open, had more than 1400 participants from 26 countries, among them approximately 95 GMs and 70 IMs.

Magnus Carlsen caught Levon Aronian in the Tal Memorial final standings on Friday in Moscow, Russia. The Norwegian defeated Hikaru Nakamura and finished shared first with the Armenian, who drew with Ian Nepomniachtchi. Vassily Ivanchuk beat Hikaru Nakamura on Wednesday in the 7th round of the Tal Memorial in Moscow. As the other four games ended in draws, the Ukrainian joined Levon Aronian, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Magnus Carlsen and Sergey Karjakin in the lead. There are two more rounds to go in the Russian capital.

Again all five games ended peacefully on Tuesday in the 6th round of the Tal Memorial in Moscow. Needless to say, Levon Aronian, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Magnus Carlsen and Sergey Karjakin continue to share the lead, with 3.5/6 or 'plus one'. There are three more rounds to go so this year 'plus two' could be enough for sole tournament victory.

Like in the previous round, all games in the 5th round of the Tal Memorial in Moscow ended in draws. Levon Aronian, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Magnus Carlsen and Sergey Karjakin continue to share the lead, with 3/5. On Monday the tournament will have its first and only rest day.

On Saturday all games in the 4th round of the Tal Memorial in Moscow ended in draws. However, on many boards the result could have been different.
Levon Aronian, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Magnus Carlsen and Sergey Karjakin are still sharing the lead, with 2.5/4. The tournament, a 10-player round robin, will last five more rounds.
