Anton Korobov won the Ukrainian Championship in Kiev convincingly, finishing a point ahead of Alexander Areshchenko and Andrei Volokitin. Korobov's 8/11 was good for a 2831 TPR. Top seed Ruslan Ponomariov finished on 4th place with 6/11.

Andrei Volokitin is leading the Ukrainian Championship in Kiev after six rounds of play. The 26-year-old grandmaster from Lviv started the tournament with the excellent score of 5/6 and a 2929 performance.
