On the website of the United States Chess Federation recenty a video was posted in which Cody Pomeranz demonstrates how chess can revolutionize learning. The video is a finalist in a speaking contest for a TED speakers series event coming to Yale University in February 2013. We'll embed it here as well:

Six federations have issued a formal protest against the Turkish Chess Federation, which has denied its arbiters to the Istanbul Olympiad.
