David Navara replaces Morozevich in Grandmaster group A

The young Czech grandmaster David Navara (21) will replace Alexander Morozevich in the grandmastergroup A of the Corus Chess Tournament 2007. Morozevich has withdrawn for personal reasons. Navara, who ended 5th in the Grandmastergroup B of the CCT 2006 with a score of 7,5 points, made a huge jump on the world ranking list in 2006. His actual position is number thirteen.

It will be a tough tournament for Navara, but I think he can handle it.In the games he played against 2650+ players in 2006, he had a small plus score of 7,5-6,5!

    leuk! één van mijn favoriete spelers,
    alleen… hij verloor vorige week twee keer keihard in de bundesliga tegen 2600 spelers, voor de goede orde: onder de 2650.

    Jammer van Morozevitsj, maar Navarra kan in ieder geval Ivanchuk-achtig mooi afwezig in de ruimte kijken tijdens partijen. Hij kijkt daarbij niet naar het plafond, maar meer een beetje schuim-omhoog into the crowd.
