oeps was gewoon dat (niet onbelangrijke woordje) vergeten in te tikken.
No Shirov either it seems.
No, at first he wanted to, but then canceled at the last minute.
Still, enough good names to make it a credible cycle.
This Grand Prix what does it mean? Just another big tournament or is there something at stake other than money?
What are players like Al Modiahki and Pelletier doing in this tournament?
More amazing that we have a 2700+ average rating with players like this in the field.
The level will be good, but i think Morozevich had a point.
@Jan:
“This Grand Prix what does it mean? Just another big tournament or is there something at stake other than money?”
As far as i know, this will be an event composed from six tournaments, the winner will play a match against the winner of the World Cup, and the winner of that match will be the World Chess Championship challenger.
There are 21 players, as counting started at “2″. The last six players are clearly either local nominees or the Presidential nominee (probably Wang Yue). I’m guessing that Grischuk is also a local nominee. I predicted Gashimov, Navara and Al Modiahki as local nominees, while leaving the two Russian nominees and Switzerland as too chancy to guess.
