Again there wasn’t much thrilling going on in Dortmund yesterday, where the players kept on being very peaceful (although they did play some chess before scoring the half points). So why not have a look at that other very strong tournament that was going on. Yesterday the Aerosvit Tournament in Foros (Ukraine) ended; it was won by my favorite player of the moment: Vassily Ivanchuk. His victory over Shirov was amazing.
First Dortmund:
Standings after round 5:
1. Kramnik, Vladimir 3.5 2-3. Alekseev, Anand 3.0 4-5. Leko, Mamedyarov 2.5 6-7. Gelfand, Carlsen 2.0 8. Naiditsch 1.5
Final standings Foros:
1. Ivanchuk, Vassily 7.5
2. Karjakin, Sergey 7.0
3-6. Onischuk, Svidler,
Van Wely, Shirov 6.0
7. Dominguez Perez 5.5
8. Rublevsky 5.0
9-10. Jakovenko, Eljanov 4.5
11-12. Sasikiran, Nisipeanu 4.0
Here all Foros games in PGN.

I think Dortmund is peacefull with a reason: Kramnik, Leko, Anand and Gelfand will play in Mexico this year and they don’t want to show their great novelties… They will use them in the world championship. The other cause of this peacefull play is the fact that Gelfand, Leko and Carlsen have just finished their difficult matches in Elista.
Well, Kramnik is not at all peaceful. Today he again played an amazing game. Piece sacrifice in the end game!
Yes, he played a fine game against Naiditsch, but i was talking about the 5th games in Dortmund. I also want to add that yesterday Leko, Gelfand, Anand and Alekseev played fine games too.
