A hi from Porto Mannu

21 May 2007 12:13 PM | Last modified: 12:14

Suddenly the reports from Sofia ended. And for me the Mtel tournament already feels a bit far away and long ago. What was the case? Friday afternoon I managed to post the last material right in time and then I had to hurry to the airport. Via Rome I flew to Sardinia on Saturday morning where my next tournament started in the afternoon.

It’s located at the north coast of Sardinia, the area is called Capo d’Orso / Porto Mannu. The resort where the players stay is located beautifully at a bay and everyone enjoys the delicious Italian food. The only negative aspect is that there’s no internet at all. I write this on a slow internet computer at the nearest town, Palau, which can only be reached by taxi. (Luckily I could share it with two Spaniards.) The have many lectures here, by amongst others the well-known trainers/writers Aagaard, Marin and Rowson (who also play in the tournament). I already put Aagaard’s on video and Marin has also agreed. I also want to interview the three. So in short: I’m doing nice things for ChessVibes but I’m afraid I can only publish it next week… Although I might be able to arrange something via the organizers. The tournament has five electronical boards, using a mobile internet connection. So, hopefully until soon!

Sounds like a perfect week: chess, italian
food (and wine?), no internet (= not stress from
    outside) …
Still, I am looking forward to your new reports
    and videos!
    I really enjoy your site…

well, it is a pity for you that you missed the -expected but nevertheless thrilling- Topalov’s comeback in the last round of MTEL tournament.

It-s like these greats phenomenoms of nature, volcanoes, hurricanes and so on…Must see.

A great great game by its sheer force of will. This guy is a true champ.
