[lang_nl]Natuurlijk moeten we tussen al het geweld door dat zich in de Mexicaanse hoofdstad afspeelt ook nog een keer terugkeren naar het Tsjechische plaatsje Karlovy Vary, waar ik vorig weekend mocht vertoeven. Inmiddels is het toernooi, dat even lang duurde als de eerste helft van het WK, gewonnen door Ponomariov en Movsesian, met slechts 4,5 uit 7.[/lang_nl][lang_en]Allthough the whole world is focused on that tournament going on in Mexico’s capital, we have to return once more to that little Czech town Karlovy Vary where I had a chance to stay for a few days last week. Today the tournament, that lasted as long as the first half of the Wch, has finished with a shared win for Ponomariov and Movsesian, their 4,5 out of 7 being enough.[/lang_en]

[lang_nl]Na zes rondes stond Akopian samen met Movsesian bovenaan, maar de Armeniër verloor van Shirov terwijl Ponomariov Laznicka versloeg, waarmee hij gelijk kwam met Movsesian die vandaag remiseerde met Timman. Het ging niet geweldig met de 76-jarige Korchnoi, die slechts 1,5 punt scoorde in Karlovy Vary.

De derde is de partij Shirov-Akopian van vandaag, die wel eens theoretisch belangrijk zou kunnen zijn voor de Marshall. Dus als er deelnemers van Mexico of secondanten dit lezen, check die pot! Het laatste fragment is de aardige overwinning van Ponomariov van vandaag waarmee hij gedeeld eerste kwam.

[/lang_nl][lang_en]After six rounds Akopian was leading the field together with Movsesian, but the Armenian lost to Shirov while Ponomariov beat Laznicka, catching up with Movsesian who drew with Timman today. Things didn’t go well for the 76-old Korchnoi, who scored only 1,5 points in Karlovy Vary.
