[lang_nl]Nadat Bu gisteren Ivanchuk aan het wankelen had gebracht, verraste hij vriend en vijand door vandaag Topalov te verslaan. Ivanchuk liep een halfje uit dankzij zijn remise tegen Aronian; hetzelfde resultaat had Radjabov-Cheparinov.[/lang_nl][lang_en]After Bu almost beat Ivanchuk yesterday, he surprised everyone by winning his game against Topalov today! Ivanchuk increased his lead by drawing Aronian and the same result was seen in Radjabov-Cheparinov.[/lang_en]
[lang_nl]Voor we het wisten waren er twee partijen afgelopen vandaag. Vooral Radjabov-Cheparinov had weinig om het lijf: de spelers zijn hartstikke moe na het Russisch teamkampioenschap, Bakoe en nu M-Tel en Radjabov had vanwege eerdere tegenvallers met de witte stukken zijn vizier gericht op een halfje vandaag. Aronian kwam licht in het voordeel tegen Ivanchuk maar ook hij besloot vanwege eerdere ervaringen (”ik heb al aardig vaak goed gestaan dit toernooi”) eieren voor zijn geld te kiezen.
Zo kwam het dat Ivanchuk toch weer met een punt voorsprong de laatste ronde ingaat, want Bu Xiangzhi was zo vriendelijk om juist tegen Topalov zijn eerste overwinning van het toernooi te pakken. Aanvankelijk stond Topalov wat beter in het eindspel (24.Db5 was niet geweldig maar Bu had 26…Pg4 niet zien aankomen) maar met zo’n tien minuten voor acht zetten maakte de Bulgaar twee fouten op rij: 32…Lg6?! en 33…Lc5?! waarna wit opeens gewonnen stond.

Misschien dat Topalov aanschuift bij Cheparinov en l’Ami in de voorbereiding voor de laatste ronde aangezien Cheparinov de laatste is die Ivanchuk nog van een ongedeelde toernooioverwinning kan afhouden (maar dan moet Toppie zelf wel winnen).
Vergeet niet dat morgen de ronde een uurtje eerder begint.[/lang_nl][lang_en]Before we knew it two games had already finished today. Especially Radjabov-Cheparinov wasn’t too exciting but that’s not surprising since both players played the Russian Team Championship, Baku and now M-Tel. Because of some negative experiences with the White pieces, Radjabov playing White was happy with a draw today. Aronian got a slight advantage against Ivanchuk but he also thought of some previous games (”I’ve had many good positions during this tournament”) and decided to repeat the moves.
And so Ivanchuk could increase his lead by half a point going into the final round, since Bu Xiangzhi picked today’s game against Topalov to score his first victory! At first Topalov was better in the ending (24.Qb5 was not a great move but Bu had missed 26…Ng4) but with about ten minutes for eight moves the Bulgarian made two mistakes in a row: 32…Bg6?! and 33…Bc5?!, when suddenly White was winning.

Perhaps Topalov will join Cheparinov and l’Ami for the last-round preparation, because Cheparinov is now the only person who can stop Ivanchuk from winning this tournament clear first (and Toppie has to win himself too of course).

Why they don’t follow the order they played in the first half?
Today Topa played Bu, but in the first half of the tournament he played Radjabov.
So I assume they changed the order to get an EASY(!) win for Topa while Aronian might slow down Chuky and then in the final round, Cheparinov will give Chuky hard time. It seems that this plot didn’t work today because Bu humiliated their idol…

c’mon, stop this crap, when Chucky wins everyone says what a great player he is, when Toppa wins nobody says a things. I think Toppa should be given credit for the risks he takes and the exciting chess he is always playing. He could have taken the 1/2 if he wanted to, but instead he pushed for a win. Well, yes, when u r playing with fire can burn yourself, like today … but if he was always playing not to lose he could have never won the previous 3 mtel tournamets.
Topalov and his team made ugly things in elista, they tried to win against Kramnik by using dirty tricks. Although i don’t like Kramniks playing style, but atleast he is honorable player unlike topalov who slandered and insulted his oponent.
That’s why many peoples will never respect topalov.

plus, cheparinov ” mistake ” against his Master was a beginner blunder … too many strange things with this team …
It looks very much like the good old Karpov days. Whoever came with him to a contest, lost. There is nothing new under the sun. But wrong it is, of course!
Yes, Artin, really very strange, compared to the first half of the tournament, the organization changed the order of round 9 and 10.

This switch of two rounds always happens in double-cycle events. It is necessary to avoid somebody ending up with three blacks in a row.
Besides, the switch of rounds was already made before the tournament started. At that point, it was not at all obvious that Ivanchuk would be Topalov’s main rival. Aronian looked like a more likely candidate for 1st place… (OMG! Aronian has white against Bu, who lost all his blacks, in the last round! Conspiracy!)
But, Steve Giddins, no player has two whites or two blacks in rounds 9 and 10 so the argument doesn’t hold, no!? I’m not saying this is part of cheating, I just don’t see a reason for it.
