R8: Anand, Aronian, Carlsen winnen

Round 8 is begonnen. Zonder poespas trouwens: de spelers kwamen aan, liepen de speelzaal in, en na zo’n acht minuten gingen ze achter de borden zitten waarna een heel kort woordje en de gong volgden.

Dit artikel zal ik gedurende de ronde updaten. Ik heb natuurlijk al wat op film gezeg, maar er komen zo eerst wat foto’s bij de eerste update van dit artikel. Niet onbelangrijk: de partijen kunnen hier live worden gevolgd.

De resultaten vandaag:

Anand-Shirov 1-0
Ivanchuk-Carlsen 0-1
Radjabov-Leko 1/2
Aronian-Topalov 1-0

Update 19:57h

Ivanchuk is zojuist in verloren stelling door zijn vlag gegaan, terwijl hij zijn veertigste zet uitvoerde. Een tweede drama voor de Oekraïner, die lange tijd goed tot gewonnen stond tegen Carlsen maar opnieuw in hevige tijdnood kwam en de partij helemaal uit handen gaf. Volgens het scherm dat de partijen op het podium toont, had Ivanchuk nog twee seconden over, maar de echte klok was genadeloos. “Gelukkig stond ik gewonnen,” zei Carlsen na afloop, die niet tevreden was over zijn openingsspel. “Nee, …Lb4 was niet voorbereid, ik haalde de theorie door elkaar, wat natuurlijk rampzalig is.”

Update 21:11h
Anand is zijn tweede helft prima begonnen door met wit van Shirov te winnen. Het leek of hij het punt al heel snel binnen zou halen, maar Shirov was erg taai vandaag. “He was very close to the draw,” zei Vishy. Maar de nummer één maakte gebruik van zijn extra tijd en dankzij “some tactical tricks around Black’s king”, was het uiteindelijk toch uit.

Radjabov en Leko was een erg interessante remise. Leko vond dat hij beter stond na wits stukoffer, maar “na de erg sterke tussenzet 22.Dg7! was het niet zo duidelijk meer”. De sterke zet 39.a4! ging gepaard met een remiseaanbod dat wel aangenomen moest worden omdat Leko niet meer beter stond.

Update 22:13
Aronian won ook. Hij dacht dat Topalovs 37…f4 een blunder was want daarvoor was het min of meer gelijk. Het eindspel is erg lastig verdedigen en uiteindelijk kon Topalov het niet houden.

Eerst even wat eten, maar daarna volgen de partijen met commentaar en natuurlijk… videos!

    Hello,

    I would like to express my concerns on the lack of news on the famous
    Boerenkool-met-worst Tournament,
    which has this year been skillfully won -for the third time in a row!- by the vegetarian chess-master Zultan from Hoorn.

    Is it chess-vibes policy to refrain from honouring vegetarian fellow-chess players? Is it a conspiracy?

    I think chessvibes chooses to cover the more international tournaments… http://www.schakers.info does give a lot dutch news… doing double work seems a bit strange…

    Since both schakers.info and chessvibes are not reporting on the most important tournament of the year, I will do it myself….
    However, since the boerenkool met worst tournaments is, in a way, a bit like famines in Afrika (pictorial reports all look the same), I like to refer to last years chessvibes report.

    I could enrich this comment with all sorts of details, for example that the “Wijkertorenboys” delegation did not perform up their own (and only their own) expectations, that HJV was impressing by playing for a tournament win without “spek and bonen”, that the great Geerts was shining with abundance and that the atmosphere was great as always. But I will summarise to:
    The vegetarian won…. again! ;)

    Que jornada mas interesante, este torneo está siendo espectacular. No hay tregua.

    A mi me gusta mucho las peleas ajedrezisticas. Pero, hace tiempo las tablas eram demasiadamente vien venidas por los contendores.
    Hoy, sin embargo, estoy muy contento con los desarrollos de los contendores. Ellos estan luchando hasta las derraderas consequencias. Creo que es el mejor torneo del ano!
