[lang_nl]Van 28 juni tot en met 6 juli vindt in het theater van Dortmund de Sparkassen Chess Meeting 2008 plaats. Opmerkelijk is dat er dit jaar een tweede Duitse deelnemer is: naast ex-winnaar Naiditsch doet ook Jan Gustafsson mee.

Naiditsch schreef in 2005 geschiedenis door op slechts 19-jarige leeftijd Dortmund te winnen. Jan Gustafsson uit Hamburg doet voor het eerst mee, net als de 17-jarige Rus Ian Nepomniachtchi, die zich plaatste door het Aeroflot Open te winnen. Loek van Wely deed ook mee in 2005 en keert nu dus terug naar Dortmund.

Dortmund is een korter toernooi dan we gewend zijn: er wordt een enkelrondige achtkamp gespeeld. Het maakt ook geen deel uit van de Grand Slam.
