World champion Kramnik plays Corus

[lang_nl]Wereldkampioen Kramnik heeft bevestigd dat hij in januari zal spelen in het Corus-toernooi in Wijk aan Zee (12-28 januari 2007). Het zal de eerste keer zijn dat Kramnik en Topalov elkaar weer achter het schaakbord ontmoeten, na de herenigingsmatch van afgelopen maand.[/lang_nl][lang_en]World champion Kramnik has confirmed he will play in the Corus Tournament in Wijk aan Zee (12-28 January, 2007). It will be the first time Kramnik and Topalov meet again behind the chess board, after their reunification match last month.[/lang_en]

[lang_nl]Door de bevestiging van Kramnik is de A-groep van Corus nu compleet. Opnieuw is er sprake van een zeer sterk deelnemersveld met maar liefst zes spelers uit de top 10 van de wereld. Met een gemiddelde rating van 2723 is de A-groep van Corus ook in 2007 waarschijnlijk weer het sterkste schaaktoernooi ter wereld.

Drie deelnemers zijn nog geen twintig en zorgen ervoor dat de gemiddelde leeftijd opnieuw laag is: Karjakin, Carlsen en Radjabov. De complete A-groep ziet er als volgt uit, met tussen haakjes de rating en ranking op 1 oktober dit jaar:

Again there will be an extremely strong field of participants with no less than six players from the top ten of the world. With an average rating of 2723 the Corus A-group will surely be the strongest chess tournament in the world in 2007.

Three participants aren’t twenty years old yet and make the average age of the A-group quite low. They are Karjakin, Carlsen and Radjabov. The complete A-group looks as follows, with between brackets their rating and ranking of 1 October 2006:
