Weekly Endgame Study (162)
Every week we present you an endgame study - instead, this week we selected ten studies by Vasily Smyslov, who was the most productive World Champion as it comes to endgame studies. It was an early love of his, and after he stopped playing tournaments he returned to his old hobby and produced many more brilliancies.

That first Smyslov study makes me happy each time I see it! What a fantastic idea.

Yes the first study is the most beautifull of all the studies. I like the way chessvibes wants to remember Smyslov.

What a great - and thoroughly justified - tribute to Smyslov. Thank you

A fitting tribute indeed... It's only the first two studies, composed by Smyslov when he still was a youngster (15 years old!), that I'd seen before. I knew he returned to composing after he left active chess. But what amazes me the most is that in the majority of the selected studies from his second life (no. 4, 6, 7, 8, and 10) the main theme is space, at the time when he was almost completely blind!

Beautiful endgame, love your tributes to him. He sounds like a bit of a magician with a natural touch, like Carlsen
